Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
2 Peter 1.1:
NWT - Simon Peter, a slave and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have acquired a faith as precious as ours through the righteousness of our God and the Savior Jesus Christ:
KIT - Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter) δοῦλος (slave) καὶ (and) ἀπόστολος (apostle) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) τοῖς (to the (ones) ἰσότιμον (equally precious) ἡμῖν (to us) λαχοῦσιν (having obtained (by lot) πίστιν (faith) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) τοῦ (of the) θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us) καὶ (and) σωτῆρος (of Savior) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ· (Christ;)
2 Peter 1.11:
NWT - In fact, in this way you will be richly granted entrance into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
KIT - οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) πλουσίως (richly) ἐπιχορηγηθήσεται (will be supplied upon) ὑμῖν (to YOU) ἡ (the) εἴσοδος (entrance) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) αἰώνιον (everlasting) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) καὶ (and) σωτῆρος (of Savior) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ. (Christ.)
Analysis
The only difference?
tou theou hemon kai soteros Iesou Christou (v.1)
tou kuriou hemon kai soteros Iesou Christou (v.11)
Theou – Genitive singular form of the word “God”
Kuriou – Genitive singular form of the word “Lord”
So why add “the” in verse 1 but not in verse 11?
Because the claim that Jesus Christ is God and Saviour does not fit with Watchtower theology
God’s Word does not fit with Watchtower theology
2 Peter 2.20:
NWT - Certainly if after escaping from the defilements of the world by an accurate knowledge of
the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they get involved again with these very things and are overcome, their final state has become worse for them than the first
KIT - εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ἀποφυγόντες (having fled from) τὰ (the) μιάσματα (defilements) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world)ἐν (in) ἐπιγνώσει (accurate knowledge)
τοῦ (of the) κυρίου (Lord) καὶ (and) σωτῆρος (Savior) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) τούτοις (to these (things) δὲ (but) πάλιν (again) ἐμπλακέντες (having been inwoven) (they are being made less,) γέγονεν (it has become) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὰ (the) ἔσχατα (last (things) χείρονα (worse) τῶν (of the) πρώτων. (first (things)
2 Peter 3.18:
NWT - No, but go on growing in the undeserved kindness and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
KIT - αὐξάνετε (be YOU growing) δὲ (but) ἐν (in) χάριτι (undeserved kindness) καὶ (and) γνώσει (knowledge)
τοῦ (of the) κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) καὶ (and) σωτῆρος (of Savior) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ. (Christ.) αὐτῷ (To him) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) νῦν (now) καὶ (and) εἰς (into) ἡμέραν (day) αἰῶνος. (of age.)
Analysis
The translators clearly understand that this Greek construction refers to 1 person with 2 different titles, however in 2 Peter 1.1 they choose to ignore their knowledge and ADD to God’s word to make it fit their theology.
