Questions for Mormons

There are many resources available online that address the issues with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the Book of Mormon and accompanying scripture.

I have included on this site a handful of key points which will work to expose a few of these issues to a "Mormon".

Use these points in conversation, and use them to reveal the truth that we DO have in the Bible.

Many Mormons will leave all faith behind when they leave the Church, the purpose of these tools is therefore to affirm the Bible, while drawing into question LDS Scripture.

A few key things to ask  a Mormon are:

Where is Heavenly Mother in the Bible? (Yes, they believe God has a wife!)

Who is Jesus? How is he not  joined to the father in more than just a shared purpose as they claim

John 1.1:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Does the Father have a physical body?

John 4.24:

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

Is God eternal and unchanging?

Psalm 90.2:

"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God."

Malachi 3.6

"For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed."

Can they explain what Matthew 28.19 and John 10.30 are about? (They deny the Trinity)

Matthew 28.19:

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nationsbaptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

John 10.30:

"I and my Father are one."

Do they believe Ephesians 2.8-9 ?

Ephesians 2.8-9:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Does Psalm 139 fit with their belief on an eternally existent soul?

Psalm 139.13-16:

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."

Zachariah 12.1:

"The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him."

Do they believe in Isaiah 43.10? (They don't!)

Isaiah 43.10:

"before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."

How do they justify having extra scriptures?

Revelation 22.18-19:

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Why do you have a restored Priesthood?

Hebrews 7.23-28:

"And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore."

Why does the Bible not mention "3 degrees of Glory"?

Matthew 25.46:

"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."

Revelation 20.15:

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

"God Himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man”"

Psalm 90.2:

"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God."

How do they explain Isaiah 44.6 in light of their polytheism?

Isaiah 44.6:

"Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God."

How is Adams soul eternal in light of Genesis 2.7?

Genesis 2.7:

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
